CNY's Eve Reunion Dinner

Every year of Chinese New Year's eve, we have never miss our family reunion dinner at home. Very simple and small family reunion dinner. Just the five of us. Ever since my second sister got married couple of years ago, and it makes our family reunion dinner even smaller. Only left me, my younger sister, brother and mom. I can't remember when was the last time we had family reunion dinner with dad on Chinese New Year's eve. Dad always busy with his things outside and work in oversea, etc. But we are already so used to it now.

We've bought a ready packed of lou sang from super market. This is the first year that we had lou sang at home. It was meaningful and fun to do lou sang together at home. I mixed everything and poured the syrup on it. The result? Mad sweet!!! I shouldn't have poured all the syrup. First time mah, too excited! Next year, i'll be the expert! Hehe..

Some people like to go out for their family reunion dinner and some prefer to stay at home such as me. Mom will cook many special dishes.

All food, especially fish will never fully consumed during this dinner, but is partly saved for the next day because the Chinese believe the word for fish sounds the same as the word for abundance (余)and by saving it for the New Year, it is believed that the new year will be filled with abundance (年年有余).
