It was another shopping weekend. Couple of last weekends i was shop 'till dropped and last weekend i was shop 'till broke! Mom was coming to KL again and we went out shopping for Chinese New Year.
Had our lunch in Papa Rich as Steven wanted to look for a place for WiFi, so that he could sit there the whole day while waiting for us to shop.
I have nothing much to write for Papa Rich as i’ve been to this cafe several times. Basically i love their Soya Bean Cincau with Gula Melaka the most. Or put it in this way, i love everything with Gula Melaka! :P
Nasi Lemak with Chicken Curry
My mom just like to order Chicken Rice. I dont' know why!!! She said she likes to eat the beansprout that is why she likes to order Chicken Rice! Aiyoo!!! Boring la!
I forgot the name of this dessert, it's very similar as Thai dessert. Coconut milk + Sago + banana. Not recommended! The sago is tastely even after pourned with the sweet coconut milk.
Steven loves Fried Bean Curd. So he ordered this for appetizer.

Shopping in 1 Utama Shopping Centre. The theme for Chinese New Year here is cats, famous Maneki Neko from Japan! Wait a minute! As for Chinese, we all know there is no cat in the Chinese zodiac. There is a tiger but are they the same? Nevermind that. Whether you're a cat person or not, i am sure you'll love of these giant feline sculptures at the Oval of 1 Utama!
The name of the theme here for CNY 2010 is “Celebrating paw-sperity”
My mom was carrying the giant eco-friendly shopping bag that i bought for her from Jusco. But damn heavy after put everything into it and carry everywhere!
My mom was forced to take picture, as she said she has a bad hair day today! Aiya! Who cares, mom? LOL
Special here is the cat has soft furs (unlike ceramics) and also wears New Year outfit. There’s several Maneki Nekos here, and some have moles at on their face. All of them have tails curl to the front. I wonder if they have their own names as well.

Maneki Neko's greeting shoppers at 1 Utama.
It was a Chinese show on stage. FM9.88 was performing. Many audience was thronging at the main concource.

Lots of cute Maneki Neko for sale, it's not cheap though!
Thinking of getting one..

Mid Valley Megamall again...
The Chinese New Year's theme for this year in Mid Valley Megamall is very simple. Not that impressive. I am not sure what is their theme name, it is everywhere lotus..

We had our lunch at Rak Thai. Situated in the wing that connects Gardens to Mid Valley Megamall, Rak Thai is a pleasant corner that benefits from a lot of space. The décor is very natural and calming, with lots of wood and Thai paraphernalia. For those who love Thai instant noodles, you’ll be glad to know that they sell it at Rak Thai. The menu, though not extensive, covers a satisfying range and hits all the prerequisites from tom yam to the mango sticky rice dessert. Overall, Rak Thai scores well for their generosity in portions, affordable prices and authentic Thai cuisine.
Rak Thai is owned by a Thai couple who was inspired by the food in the streets of Thailand. The outlet design also depicts traditional Thai culture with a slight touch of modern architecture. Warm, friendly staffs greet you as you enter the restaurant. I quite like this place and will definitely come again!
My mom had Green Curry Chicken rice. The green curry was delightful fragant, you can smell the strong coconut milk the moment you put in your mouth. However, i was quite disappointed because it was only few pieces of chunky chicken bits in it.
Myself and Joanne ordered the same dish – Pineapple Fried Rice. This is one their signature dish too. You’ll notice every customer that dines in will at least order their Pineapple Fried Rice.
